The 2023 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid has been launched in the Indian market with upgrades to comply with the newest norms. This scooter, which targets young buyers, retains the design of its predecessor. However, Yamaha Motor India has tweaked the colour palette and graphics for a refreshed look for 2023.

The mechanical specifications retain the 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection technology. This motor delivers a maximum output of 8bhp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. For 2023, the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid series benefits from an OBD-II sensor and is compatible with E-20 fuel.

The styling, as mentioned earlier, remains unaltered, and the 2023 Yamaha Ray ZF 125 Fi Hybrid retains the aggressive design of its predecessor. The disc variants of the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid gets the all-new Dark Matte Blue colour, while the Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid will be available in two new paint themes – Matte Black and Light Grey Vermillion. Further, the disc and drum variants of the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid get new graphics in its existing colours – Matte Red, Metallic Black, and Cyan Blue.

The feature list on the 125cc hybrid scooter retains Bluetooth connectivity that works with the Y-Connect smartphone application. The Yamaha Y-Connect app includes a fuel consumption tracker, maintenance recommendations, last parking location, malfunction notification, revs dashboard, and rider ranking.

The features also include the Intelligent Power Assist system that is said to deliver an additional thrust, utilising the Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system. The SMG system, which is available on all 125cc Yamaha scooters, doubles up as an electric motor to offer additional linear power when the rider accelerates from a stop or while climbing steep inclines. Other features identical to the previous version include Automatic Stop & Start system, a side-stand engine cut-off function, and a combined braking system.

The suspension hardware comprises telescopic front forks and a rear spring, while the anchoring setup on the base model includes drum brakes on both wheels. The premium variant benefits from a disc setup at the front. The scooter rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels that are shod in tubeless tyres.

The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid rivals the likes of the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Avenis 125, and Honda Grazia in the Indian market.
